Launched in 2016 to support Hull’s year as UK City of Culture, the HEY! Volunteering programme plays a key role in supporting businesses, venues, and projects across Hull and East Yorkshire that are involved in arts, culture, and heritage. Their dedicated team of 2,500 volunteers can often be seen out and about across the region, proudly wearing their iconic blue coats and providing a big, friendly, enthusiastic welcome to visitors. They are passionate ambassadors for the area and Visit Hull and East Yorkshire are proud to help fund the volunteering programme, working in partnership to shine a spotlight on all Hull and East Yorkshire has to offer.
HEY! Brid
Launched in January 2024, HEY! Brid is a bespoke volunteering programme that supports arts, culture and heritage in Bridlington, whilst enjoying all the benefits of being part of the wider HEY! Volunteering initiative.
HEY! Volunteers already support a whole range of different activities, from pop-up art events and installations, outdoor festivals, mass participation, performing opportunities, community art projects and much more. And as the programme reaches further into East Yorkshire, they’ll be able to get involved with even more.

Their volunteers can help you to engage with visitors, and by integrating volunteers into your activities, you'll be able to deliver improved experiences and strengthen community ties.
HEY! Volunteering offers a completely free service, supplying fully trained, vetted, and uniformed volunteers for your events, projects, or venues. They handle all aspects of volunteer management, including communication, administration, and shift scheduling, so you can focus on what matters most.
Here’s how it works:
1. Get in touch with the friendly team at HEY! Volunteering at least 6 weeks before your event or volunteer activity.
2. Complete an online volunteer request form once your details are finalised.
3. HEY! Volunteering will advertise your volunteer opportunities to their network through their online booking system.
4. A few days before your event, you’ll receive a volunteer register with all the details of those who have signed up to help you.
